I run Opensuse Tumbleweed in a VirtualBox VM on Windows 7. Yesterday I updated my VirtualBox software to the just release version 4.3.22.9, after that the auto-resize Guest display has not been working. I did update the Guest Extensions also.
I'm wondering if anyone on the forum runs Opensuse in a VirtualBox VM and could check this for me.
I use KDE as my DE in Tumbleweed.
Thanks,
Chuck H.

Re: Opensuse Tumbleweed in VirtualBox VM auto resize of view
Did you get any errors in the terminal when installing the guest additions?
btw, I've been downloading it for awhile now and once it's finished I will check. The mirror is the slowest I've seen.

the installation of the guest extensions looks good to me, there were no errors and all the responses were ok.
Code: Select all
linux-mmng:/run/media/root/VBOXADDITIONS_4.3.22_98236 # sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run

I should have mentioned that Opensuse Tumbleweed is using this kernel.
uname -a
Linux linux-mmng 3.18.3-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jan 19 12:38:51 UTC 2015 (c3e148f) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Re: Opensuse Tumbleweed in VirtualBox VM auto resize of view
geeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
well first of all it took nearly 40 mins to download the LiveCD .iso. It should have taken about 2 mins. I guess OpenSUSE switched to dialup.
the kernel that is installed is "Linux linux.site 3.18.3-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT" and I'm not changing it.
The 4.3.22 GAs are working for me.
p.s. OpenSUSE is not my fav.

btw, did you remove the pre-installed GAs before you installed the 4.3.22 GAs?

Re: Opensuse Tumbleweed in VirtualBox VM auto resize of view
I have the same problem. Using the .22 GA from the Virtualization repo didn't help either. Resizing was working correctly on .20 with .20 GA from the repos. Upgraded and it stopped for either GA.chaat wrote:I run Opensuse Tumbleweed in a VirtualBox VM on Windows 7. running Tumbleweed, fully updated as of this morning. Kernel: 3.19.0-1-desktop.
The 4.3.22 GAs are working for me.
The GAs will not work if the ones that came pre-installed in OpenSUSE aren't removed.

Re: Opensuse Tumbleweed in VirtualBox VM auto resize of view
Of course you can only use one, but the ones from the repo should work, they are build from the same source. They worked just fine on .20.loukingjr wrote:running Tumbleweed, fully updated as of this morning. Kernel: 3.19.0-1-desktop.

Edit: can confirm that using the GA from Virtualbox does work correctly. So, it's a problem with the GA's in the openSUSE repos.

Re: Opensuse Tumbleweed in VirtualBox VM auto resize of view
Almost all repositories take the source and modify it to their specific requirements. This is not always right and if given the chance to use the official installs you should go that route.
