Partial Falure with Linux kernel 3.19.0.0
Fedora's 'bleeding edge' distro "rawhide" has rolled out kernel version 3.19.0.0 today. Virtualbox guest additions 4.1.20 fail with desktop integation (only a ~1000 pixel horizontal resolution can be achived). Mouse integration and shared folder integration is OK. I *do have* rebuilt the guest additions after the kernel upgrade - just telling in advance in case somebody should feel like to ask!
More exactly the Fedora rawhide, I use, is the Desktop edition with xfce desktop.
It is not a problem (and also not a complaint). I can rollback the kernel upgrade and I can boot on the old kernel where it works fine. I just thought I would report it. I really don't know if the culprit is the new kernel, VirtualBox or xfce (or a combination).
Someone with more insight should look into it, probably.

Actually even with 3.18 kernels on "Fedora rawhide" the VM cannot scale beyond HDMI size (or approximately HDMI size) . I have a 2560*1440 monitor for my Win7 host. If I run the VM in Fullscreen (or just resize beyond DHMI) black edges appear. Does not happen in any other guest (SuSE 13.2, Suse Tumbleweed, Mint, Xubuntu, Debian, Boddhi or even Fedora 21).

Based on this thread I decided to try Rawhide and downloaded the boot.iso. I've learned a couple things. One, Fedora may have some of the slowest servers of any Linux distro. Two, this is taking longer to install than any OS I have ever experienced, Virtual or not.

I thnk installation speed may depend on if it goes online for updates during installaton or not.

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. (Linux motto). After three tries I finally had a working "Rawhide" guest *Fedora 22". I cloned my F21 guest and upgraded using Yum, although I had to do it more than once.
What's interesting is I have no issue with the screen resolution up to full screen 2560x1440. However, the shared folder module failed to build because of a 3.19 kernel config. It said I could fix it by recompiling the kernel from the source but I decided… nah.

I find out that how high resolution I can have depends on how large the VM Window was when I closed it last time. But I can never utilize the monitor fully (neither with 2 different 3.18 kernels nor 3.19.0). Then whitespace (or 'blackspace' in Fullscreen mode) shows around the Lnux disktop.
If it matters my graphics card is a Nvidia NVS 310. Additionally the machine has unused onboard Intel graphics (that Windows does not see, so BIOS must have disabled it). i am atacing an image. Windws desktop screeshot (reducet in size and with lots of jpg compresson)

@Perryg .. my problem hs nothing with shared folders to do. They work fne acutally.

I haven't used Gnome since they messed it up. I compile my own Cinnamon DE.
But the look of your screen makes me believe that for what ever reason your guest is not not compiling the VBox video properly.

my screen is fine. here's two shots, one maximized and one at 1920x1080. I didn't bother with full screen because it would just look like either.
