Ubuntu 8.04 on Vista. VB1.6. Screen resolution (again)

Post by lilletrond »

I have looked into all possible forums, tried all kind of solutions, but I still can not get a proper resolution on my screen.

What I have:
- Lenovo T61p, W Vista (host), VB 1.6, Ubuntu 8.04 (guest)

What I have done:
- Installed the Guest Additions (mouse works fine)
- Edited the xorg.conf file in all possible ways (from all kind of recomondations from all kind of forums)
- Rebooted a hundred times

What I get:
- My choises for resolutions remains at 6 values, maximum is 1280x800, minimum is 720x400. This seem to have nothing to do with xorg.conf??

What I do not get:
- My preffered screen resolution at 1920x1200

Is there someone that can tell me what to do? Or is there a howto anywhere that works? Can someone post their xorg.conf so that I can compare? Have I missed some small items that I have to do?

Hope someone can help me.

With 1.6.0, VRAM requirements have gone up slightly. Increase the VRAM. Also, there has been a change on the resolution to pick. It now keeps track of any bars that are on the host, like the Windows Taskbar and the Linux panels. When going to full screen, those are ignored again. It might be changed again in the next release.
