I tried installing ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386 and it gives the following error:
This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:
pae
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU
Then I downloaded ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64 and tried to install, but now I get the following error:
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU
What can I do about this?

A. Enable PAE in your VM settings.
B. Download a 32bit OS.
