Lost available display resolutions after update?
I have used ubuntu 10.04 under earlier versions of Vbox in the past, with this newest release i don't seem to have the possibility to have a display resolution higher than 1280x1024. even after installing the guest addons.
Help would be appreciated.

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
Did you install the guest additions (in the guest)
Did you actually see them install and were there any error messages?

So if you press host+F to go full screen you see black around the virtual guest?

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
I am having this same problem with not seeing higher resolution options after the update.
When I go to full screen mode I get the smaller desktop surrounded by a black border. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10, and it was working fine in the VBox 4.1.6 with GuestAdditions. I have also compiled and installed the new version of Guest Additions without seeing any errors.

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
I need to see the latest guest log file (as an attachment) as well as the /var/log/vbox* files

These look fine. Post the /var/log/xorg.0.log

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
Everything is as it should be AFAIKT. All modules loaded and responding.
You can try to remove the guest additions and install the 4.1.4 GAs to see if it restores the screen or you can post a ticket to bugtracker

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
Here is the ticket https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/10068
If um007 truely has the same problem (which has not been verified yet since they have not provided any information) they should actually add the information to this ticket and not start another one.
I would really like to see them post the same information first to keep from overloading the bugtracker if it is a simple user error.

Re: Lost available display resolutions after update?
Here are the logs from my VirtualBox setup. Let me know if there's anything that I might be doing wrong, or if I can include anything else to help resolve the problem!
