Guest additions and Kernel 2.6.39

Post by swordfish »

I have a Debian (actually LMDE) guest on a Windows 7 host. Recently I updated the guest OS and got kernel 2.6.39. I have been unable to get seamless mode or auto-resize working with either the 486 or 686 variants of 2.6.39 and I have had to revert to 2.6.38. Reinstallation of guest additions under 2.6.39 produced no obvious errors, but it just disables those options in the view menu.

Is anyone else having this issue with VirtualBox and kernel 2.6.39?

Have a strange problem after upgrading to VBox 4.1. Running opensuse 11.4 & Tumbleweed which results in Kernel 2.6.39
After upgrading VBox to 4.1 the mouse pointer is 'froozen' and when trying to build the kernel with GuestAdditions I get an error message saying that bzip2 is needed. This package is installed and I've double-checked that it is indeed there. The actual error messages are:
./install.sh : line 253: bzip2 command not found
tar: this does not look like a tar archive
./install.sh : line 253: bzip2 command not found
tar: this does not look like a tar archive
Update:
Refreshed bzip2 and solved the problem - bzip2 was installed but for some unknown reason corrupted.
Now run Kernel 3.0 without any noticeable issues - so far
