I have VirtualBox 2.14 installed on my WinXP Pro host. I just installed PCLinuxOS 2009 as a client and the resolution is stuck at 1024*768 despite the Guest Additions were installed successfully. How can I get the resolution to adjust dynamically?
Thanks

Re: PCLinuxOS 2009 Stuck at 1024*768
I was unable to get the auto resize or seamless mode to work either. I did find out that it had to do with the older Xorg that pclinux was using and found that I could edit my xorg.conf to allow for more resolutions. I have included an old Debian 4 copy but the idea is the same. Look at the screen resolution section and you will see what you need to do.misterD wrote:I have VirtualBox 2.14 installed on my WinXP Pro host. Just remove line with Modes completely and VirtualBox will be allowed to set up any resolution. See why, here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16332

That was in Ubuntu, and it does in fact work. Are you saying that you have PClinuxOS and it worked for it?rryk wrote:Just remove line with Modes completely and VirtualBox will be allowed to set up any resolution. See why, here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16332
What version of xorg are you using?
Re: PCLinuxOS 2009 Stuck at 1024*768
No. I do not use PClinuxOS, but it should work for every Linux.Perryg wrote:Are you saying that you have PClinuxOS and it worked for it?

Re: PCLinuxOS 2009 Stuck at 1024*768
I just tested this again and the newest version of PCLinuxOS 2009 does support the screen resizing and seems to work fairly nicely. It does not however support the OpenGL and high resolution graphics in VB because the Kernel is still too old (2.6.26.8.tex3) needs to be 2.6.27.Sasquatch wrote:Check my HowTo at the top of this forum. Previous versions of PCLinuxOS (even with dist-upgrade) still need to have screen resolution set in the xorg.conf.
VBox 2.2.0 did a fine job with installing and all detections were spot on. It also appears that the newest version of PCLinuxOS 2009 comes with DKMS, and all kernel-headers preinstalled so there was no need to prep the OS before installing the Guest Additions.
