6.1: modprobe vboxguest failed

Post by zvivered »

Hello,

I installed Centos 7.9 as guest in Virtual box 6.1
The installation ended successfully.

Then I installed (under root):
gcc
yum install kernel-devel-$(uname -r)

Then, in the menu I clicked:
Insert Guest Additions CD image...

After a while the installation ended successfully.
Then I reset the machine.

After login I tried to maximize the screen. But the screen remained in the same size.

Can you please advise ?

Thank you,
Zvika

Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show in Explorer/Finder/File Manager. In the "Logs" subfolder, zip the VM's "vbox.log", and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab. (Configure your host OS to show all extensions so you can find the "vbox.log", not "vbox.log.1", etc.)

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.
After reinstalling the guest (Centos 7.9) the installation of the guest additions works fine.

I expected that maximize of the VirtualBox window will maximize the guest window.
This does not happen. The guest remains small.

Can you please tell why ?

Thank you,
Zvika

Not if you don't provide the requested log.
