I've just upgraded Virtualbox from 6.1.40 to 7.0.6. I have a Fedora 36 VM which is working great, and have just installed the latest Linux Mint 21 to try it out. After installing the 7.0.6 guest additions, both VM's no longer show the full screen login window at initial power on. I can ctrl-f twice to force the full screen logon screen. Prior to the upgrade the Fedora 36 VM logon screen would always go full screen at initial boot.
Any ideas?

Re: Initial boot login screen no full screen
Hi
For me, GUEST addition provided this capacity
Are your new guest additions correctly installed on the guest VM ?
Is your VM client you use to access the VM screen is configured to use the VM native screen resolution ?
Kind regards

Sorry for my las too quick answer...
Having a look on the logfile you have provided, I think I found answer to questions I ask:
Yes, Guest additions are in the correct version, according of this line of the logfile :
and
But somethings are interresting in the logfile, maybe search this way :
and to have more contextual details where we see that VitrtualBox consider that the job is done (sorry no code mark here because impossible to put bold text in code bloc) :

Re: Initial boot login screen no full screen
@ftolead: This probably does not solve your problem, but it's an error even so: you need to update the Extension Pack after updating VirtualBox. The log shows you still using extension pack 6.1.40 on a 7.0.6 VirtualBox host.
Otherwise the VM seems to be quite well configured.
In the manager (before launching the VM), make sure File|Preferences|Display|Max Guest Screen Size is set to None or Auto.

Re: Initial boot login screen no full screen
FWIW, you've misinterpreted that line: It only means that the VM used the BIOS which is part of the VirtualBox 7.0.6 application on the host. Note that the BIOS is executed before the guest OS is running, so it cannot be part of the VirtualBox Guest Additions which are installed inside the guest OS.nbanba wrote:Yes, Guest additions are in the correct version, according of this line of the logfile :

00:00:07.838603 VMMDev: Guest Log: BIOS: VirtualBox 7.0.6
But you're right about the following log message indicating the problem:

Hi
@fth0
That was more the second cited line which let me say that was the good version of guest additions
But maybe I did not understand it as it should too...
And yes, I think nothing else to do than reporting a bug for this issue.

No, that one was correct. Otherwise, I would have told you.nbanba wrote:But maybe I did not understand it as it should too...
