Ubuntu Terminal not working in fresh install

Post by Kei »

Problem is as follows: I just installed VirtualBox again after some time of not using it, I now have version 7 and tried to set up an Ubuntu machine with it. I tried 22.04 first and after running into the problem I also tried 20.04, both have the same problem:

I cannot open the terminal in my guest, ctrl+alt+t does nothing, if I start the Terminal through the Activity tab it shows for a few seconds in the activity bar as opening (continually having the loading circle next to it) and then just disappears.
I tried uninstalling it through the ctrl+alt+f3 terrminal which does actually open, but that tells me my user does not have sudo rights...
How on earth can the only user on my freshly set up machine not have sudo rights?
I ran VirtualBox as Admin, repeatedly restarted the Guest, my Host and Virtualbox and tried completely reinstalling the guests mutliple times, but the same problem happens each time...

I never had a problem like this before, anyone know what could be the problem here?
