Need help with End Kernel Panic - First time using virtualbox

Post by JoshL31 »

Hi! I use Linux Ubuntu Budgie but I don't really know a lot about it so I bought a book on Linux to learn more. The book suggested installing a virtual machine using virtual box to experiment with which makes sense. However, it's my first time using Virtual Box and I'm having trouble with the installation and hoping someone can help. I got Virtual Box installed on my host and I had no issues getting the virtual machine setup and Ubuntu Budgie installed. But after installation when I went to start the virtual machine for the first time I ran into an End Kernel Panic issue and despite searching tons of similar issues online I can't figure out what is going on in my specific case. Here's a screenshot of what happens when I try to book the virtual machine:

I also have the log file attached . . . I had to compress it to get it small enough to attach so if there's a better way to do that just let me know.

I'm running VirtualBox Graphical User Interface Version 6.1.38_Ubuntu r153438

My host is Ubuntu Budgie 22.04.1 LTS (64 bit) and my guest is the same. My host has 16GB RAM and I have 4GB allocated to the guest.

Here's my guest settings (I just noticed that when I set up my virtual machine I spelled "Ubuntu" wrong - LOL whoops!! :o ) :
