Kernel 5.19 - hang on shutdown / reboot

Post by linuxnerd »

Trying out linux 5.19 on virtualbox 6.1.36.
System hangs on shutdown (looks up the entire UI, i have to kill the Virtualbox Headless Frontend process to regain usage of the UI).
Happens on both Windows 10 and Debian 11 hosts.
On reboot, I see the following on the console:

As Kernel 5.19 wasn't released until 31 July 2022, approximately 2 weeks after the release of VirtualBox 6.1.36, problems should probably be expected; plus the Change Log for the 6.1.36 states (emphasis mine):
Linux Host and Guest drivers: Introduced initial support for kernels 5.18, 5.19 and RHEL 9.1 (bugs #20914, #20941)
You could track the Test Build releases - https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds which is where interim fixes usually first appear.
