VB Guest Additions are installed but not working

Post by Nwer »

Hello Team,

I would really appreciate if you can advise with bellow issue (Attached VBox.log) :

Details:

1- Guest additions are installed on Centos 7 but still can't resize screen, integrate mouse..etc.
2- Guest OS : CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-2009
3- I have installed it manually with steps in [offsite URL deleted by mod]
4- Only difference that I used yum instead of dnf otherwise same steps were followed.
5- VB client version is same as GA
6- I have tried VBoxVGA and VMSVGA and still same issue.

I have searched every page on internet discussing this issue but sadly still clueless :(

The log shows that the GAs are installed and running. Mouse integration, shared folders and basic graphics should all be available.

3D graphics acceleration will not be available since it isn't enabled and anyway the wrong controller has been selected. Since it's a Linux guest and you seem to be concerned about the graphics controller settings then you should be using VMSVGA. VBoxVGA has been deprecated and important functionality has been removed.

You need to expand on what "not working" means. What doesn't work?

Also, since your question does not concern the host it does not belong in "Windows Hosts". I will move the topic to "Linux Guests".

Thanks for replying.
My main concern that I can't resize screen...all resolutions are greyed out. also mouse integration isn't working.
I have selected VMSVGA as you recommended but still resize isn't working.
I have attached a new log.

I am not a Linux user so someone else will have to comment. In the meantime I assume you've tried restarting the guest OS?

Is CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-2009 using a graphical interface?
Running in text mode you have no mouse integratiion or resize support.
