[Solved] My Ubuntu Linux VM will not start!
[Solved] My Ubuntu Linux VM will not start!
I run Virtualbox on Windows 10. I have a Linux 22.04 VM that I have not used for about 4 months. Now it won't start! It gets as far as the Ubuntu logo and then the screen goes black.
I have upgraded Virtualbox
Added a CPU
Reduced the RAM requested for the VM
No change!
Any idea how to go about further diagnosis?
Thanks!

Re: My Ubuntu Linux VM will not start!
Please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Same issue here.
Downgraded to 6.1.32 and its working again.
Unfortunately much slower than before upgrade and downgrade.

And yet I am not seeing a VM log attached to your post.Airwave wrote:Same issue here.
Slowness usually means that you have Hyper-v enabled on a Win10 or Win11 host.

Hi,
Hyper V is off...
Log attached, but this is after downgrade.
Thanks a lot.

Uh... I gave clear instructions to zip the log and attach the zip here. Please review the instructions again. It's only one line.

Here is the log as an attached zip file.

Re: My Ubuntu Linux VM will not start!
@andy1234: You have Hyper-v enabled.
Other than that, 7.9GB RAM is a bit much for your 16GB host. I would reduce to 6GB (6144MB). 2 CPU cores is perfect.
Graphics RAM is ridiculous at 16MB, increase this to 128MB. Then consider updating the Guest Additions and enabling 3D acceleration.
