Re: Soft lockup
Not a "Windows Hosts" question. Topic moved to "Linux Guests".
Please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: Soft lockup
Not sure if this is the same but this continues to occur for me in 6.1.34. When I have 2+ cpus setup in the vm I will get soft lockup and excessive cpu usage.
Current solution is to downgrade to 6.1.30 so you might try that...
Previous thread is locked (too new to post the) maybe this is enough: 105047

Re: Soft lockup
DustormDD, I added the link to the other locked topic.
I don't know how to troubleshoot this. But a VM log may help those that do.
Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
The log may show the usual suspects or a bug that we've seen before.

Re: Soft lockup
I can report that after upgrading to Linux kernels in the 5.x range I was seeing these soft lockups too (ubuntu). I haven't seen one very recently, but I've posted in this forum about very slow disk access. Maybe it's related?
Re: Soft lockup
VirtualBox 6.1.34 on Win11 on Acer Aspire 3
Guest: openSUSE Leap 15.4, 2 processors, 4GB RAM
Linux successfully installed
After start -> boot from HD -> open SUSE freezes or after very long time gives soft lockup
Downgraded to 6.1.30 and SUSE works fine.
However Debian and Mint worked o.k. in 6.1.34
