IIRC, my older Ubuntu guests booted/rebooted extremely fast. I’ve created new VMs from 20.04 and 20.10 (server ISOs) and they are flaky, to say the least. Sometimes they take about 5 mins to boot, if they don’t hang completely.
This all started after an Ubuntu patch was released. How can I track down exactly where the boot is slow or hanging?

It appears we missed this post. Is this still a problem?
