I have an Arch virtual machine on an Ubuntu host. After the following updates the XFCE desktop will not load:
linux-5.12.15.arch1-1 linux-headers-5.12.15.arch1-1 xorg-server-1.20.12-1
xorg-server-common-1.20.12-1 xorg-server-devel-1.20.12-1
xorg-server-xephyr-1.20.12-1 xorg-server-xnest-1.20.12-1
xorg-server-xvfb-1.20.12-1 zfs-linux-2.1.0_5.12.15.arch1.1-1
It keeps reporting an error and "shutting down the xorg server."

Re: xorg update corrupts XFCE
Start the VM from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.
Please right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
And please don't lose sight of the possibility this may be entirely inside the VM's OS and not caused by Virtualbox. Keep looking at Arch's forums on how to troubleshoot this.

Re: xorg update corrupts XFCE
Thanks for the log. I don't see any difficulties in the operation of the VM's 'hardware'. I do see that you're using the old-school VboxVGA video card. Was this VM made back in Virtualbox version 5 or earlier? Or is it new? And if new, did you switch to VboxVGA at the same time as these updates were done?
Re: xorg update corrupts XFCE (Solved)
I switched to VMSVGA and it works now.
Thank you.
