Black Screen on Ubuntu startup
Black Screen on Ubuntu startup
I've been using VM to run Ubuntu for work and suddenly today I was greeted by a black screen after "Ubuntu" is shown on startup. I am unable to do anything, I've attempted to type in my password, attempted to change from VMSVGA to VboxSVGA, I am allocating 128 mb of video memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated please. I am running VirtualBox 6.1.22.

Re: Black Screen on Ubuntu startup
Set the video back to VMSVGA. Also, try to remember if your VM was updating and might have filled up its disk, which black-screens Ubuntu.
You don't mention what the host OS is. If it's Windows, do this:
Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log.
Search the far left tab's log for this text:
Attempting fall back to NEM
If you find it, Hyper-V is enabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).
If you don't find that text, or you're not running Windows for a host OS, save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
