Linux Guest: High CPU load with Plasmashell

Post by smartysmart34 »

Hello all,
I have a Linux guest running on a Linux Host.
- Host: Opensuse Tumbleweed, Kernel 5.11.6, Open-Source amdgpu driver installed, Virtualbox 6.1.18
- Guest: Opensuse Leap, Kernel 5.3.18

The guest is configured as follows:
- 4 CPUs
- 16 GB RAM
- IOAPIC on
- PAE/NX on
- Nested VT-X on
- Para Virt: KVM
- Nested Paging on
- 128 MB Graphics RAM
- VBoxSVGA
- No 3D-Acceleration

When I start the Client, it idles with about 6-12% CPU ON EACH CORE.
Looking into "top" gives me two processes consuming a total of 25-30% of CPU power:
- plasmashell
- X
This is with me not doing anything, not even moving the mouse.

Does anyone know, which setting I might have to change to get idle CPU closer to zero?

Thank you and kind regards,
Martin

P.S.: System is running on a Core i9-9900K
Graphics Card is AMD Vega 56
Anything else I should tel you?
