Good day and thank you for your help.
I've installed VB 6.1.16 via Windows 10 19042 on a Dell Intel i7, 16Gb RAM Trying to install CentOS (from UWashington mirror yesterday) and I can't get any further than the DOS like install screen. I get a flashing cursor that stupefies me for nearly 30 minutes before I kill it.
Ive followed the guidance from 3 different webpages and I found an interesting thread on VB forums that says there has been success from switching the controller from PIIX4 to ICH6, but that has not work for me.
Like I mention, Ubuntu 18.04 installed without an issue so I'm wondering why CentOS does not. I installed Elementary OS without problem, albeit I know that it is a Unbuntu style distro.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
TIA
CentOS 8.3 doesn't install VB6.1.16, but Ubuntu does

Your question concerns the guest, not the host, so the question does not belong in "Windows Hosts". I'll move the topic to "Linux Guests", where there's a better chance to find people capable of answering your question.

@multiOS...Cheers for the assist.
Bumped up the RAM from 2048 to 4096, video from 32 to 128 and rebooted the entire machine. No change.

Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log.brianw360 wrote:I've installed VB 6.1.16 via Windows 10 19042
Search the far left tab's log for this text:
Attempting fall back to NEM
If you find it, Hyper-V is enabled and needs to be disabled. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active). Version 6.1.16 might fix this. If you're on an earlier version, try it.
If you don't find that text, save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Hats off to you Sir!
Never checked DeviceGuard, CredentialGuard or Windows Defender's Core Isolation but install worked and got to the CentOS desktop. Hopefully those aforementioned items won't give me problems in the future. But if things go awry, then I know where to look.
Happy, safe and prosperous New Year to you and yours.
