Testing BigSur on virtualbox 6.1.x

Post by alienpenguin »

Hi all,

i decided to test BigSur on my MacBook Pro 16" running catalina 10.15.6

First I tried to upgrade an old Catalina beta vm (that I was testing while running mojave) but after the installation went good it crashed the applekeystore when I tried to login.
I found the following topic: https://github.com/myspaghetti/macos-vi ... issues/254 describing the issue
and installing on a new disk after disabling network and using USB 1.1 only instead of 3.x I managed to install BigSur Beta1.

Then i tried upgrading that vm with beta2 and beta4 (recently delivered) but again it fails after upgrading at login with the usual applekeystore crash.

I have not tried yet to install on a different disk, apart from this, is there anythin that could be worth trying?

thanks

I think Big Sur is not out of beta yet so is not officially supported by Virtualbox. Feel free to keep trying, but we probably won't have any idea how to get it working until Apple finishes it.

Just to let everybody know that with latest beta 8 the update works well and there is no crashing of applekeystore. :)
