Enabling arrow keys of the numeric keypad when editing text

When i am editing some text and press a key of the numeric keypad, it write a number. I would like to change this behaviour.
On Windows, i just press the num lock key, but on the Mac OS X guest under VirtualBox, when i press the num lock key
nothing happens.
Any solution?
