Mac OS X Lion 10.7
Hello is it possible to instal this OS from bootable .dmg image on VM running under Windows host, or to convert existing MacOSX virtual drive for VMWare to use with VBox?

Re: Mac OS X Lion 10.7
Verdict is still out on this. OS x Lion SLA still has not been released AFAIK and until then you should follow the SLA of SL.

Re: Mac OS X Lion 10.7
It's allowed. See below, this is for OSX, not just OSX Server.
http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/macosx107.pdf
Top of the 2nd page or section B. iii.
(iii) to install, use and run up to two (2) additional copies or instances of the Apple Software within
virtual operating system environments on each Mac Computer you own or control that is already
running the Apple Software
OSX Server is here.
http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/ ... ver107.pdf
I can get my dmg to boot into Vbox (converted to an ISO first) but the EFI loader does not recognize the hardware code as a valid one (i.e. does not recognize it as Apple hardware). Would be nice if Vbox picked up the Apple hardware code and passed it through to the VM.

Re: Mac OS X Lion 10.7
Super. I need to run OSX as a guest for testing (and I run linux anyway). This would be great - how can I help support OSX 10.7 as a guest in VBox?

Re: Mac OS X Lion 10.7
I received one original Lion USB Stick today and I managed to install Lion as guest (no addl. EFI boot necessary) on a Windows 7 64 bit machine to see if it can be done.
However, I will quickly discard this installation as virtualization of Lion (Workstation) does not seem to be allowed. This is because you need to edit the installation script within one installer package in order to switch off checking for virtualization. To be able to do that, you need to creade a installer vdi image from the original USB stick under a working Snow Leopard environment.

Re: Mac OS X Lion 10.7
drillhead, from Lion, Apple doesn't differentiate desktop and server. But since you run a Windows Host, it's still not supported nor allowed. I can't imagine you would go through the trouble of virtualising OSX on your Mac, using Windows through bootcamp.

Yes, no, I don't own a Mac ... I officially deleted the VM after success.

I'm not a native speaker, but if they say you cannot, I believe they'd like to say you must not.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7 hosts on a Lion guest
> not a native speaker
At http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/ the three agreements for Lion are multilingual.
Also on disk with Lion, /Library/Documentation/License.lpdf is multilingual.
A relevant section, 2B(iii):
* there is license to run and use two Lion guests on a Lion host.
* there is not license to run a Lion guest on a Windows host, even if the hardware is Apple-branded. So with Boot Camp: you can start Windows, but because Windows is not the Apple Software, you should not run Lion in a virtual machine in that environment.
Hope that helps.
