Proper Way To Shut Down Guest

Post by mike-h30 »

When I try to shut down the Snow Leopard Server guest from inside the guest by clicking on the Apple logo and choosing shutdown, the guest never shuts down properly as I would expect like a physical machine all the time. Sometimes it shows that its paused in the main Virtual Box window even though I chose to shut it down. If I choose "Quit VirtualBox VM" from the VirtualBox VM window it always shuts down with no exceptions. Is one shutdown method preferred over the other? Thanks.

I'm experiencing similar if I select to reboot from inside the guest. I get all of the shutdown status messages up through MACH Reboot and it hangs there.
