Guest Additions For Mac OS X Server GUEST?

Guest Additions For Mac OS X Server GUEST?

Hi,

Running Ubuntu 10.04 on a new Mac Mini.
I installed my Mac OS X Server OS into VirtualBox as a guest.

Everything seems to be working OK except the following:
- No Audio
- No hardware acceleration of the display
(OS runs good, but seems much slower than native)

When will Guest Additions for a Mac OS X Server guest be available
to address these issues?

Thanks!

There is no ETA for Mac OSX GA. I'm sure it's in the works, but it takes a lot of time to develop and test them. There is a sticky here that discusses how to get audio in the Guest, but since it's a server OS, you really don't need it IMO. I've never seen server hardware with an audio card.

Hi,

I would rather wait for the official Guest Addition for Mac OS guest.
When a beta is ready will it be posted somewhere so I can test it?

Thanks!

Beta releases of VB will be posted in the beta section. There is no ETA, only the devs know when it might be done, but as with all software things, release dates can vary.

Hi,

Tried the preliminary sound driver.
It works, but I am only getting sound from the right speaker.
No sound is playing through the left speaker.
(I noticed this because I use stereo headphones)

I hope the official Guest Addition come sooner rather than later!

You probably already know this but the Mac mini server has audio hardware.

Didn't know that, probably because I've only seen Mac workstations and not servers.

Thats great, it will solve the screen size issue i posted about, hopefully, since the other guest OS's guest additions were impeccable :). Best virtualization software around! Congrats ;)

I'm not saying here that the next version will definitely have GA for Mac OSX. Only that you have to wait for the next release to see if they are there or not.

Such features are never going to arrive in a maintenance release, so please wait for a new major version. That should be 4.0.0. Keep an eye on the beta section, it will be announced there. It's currently locked, so when it's unlocked, it will be released as beta.

I've seen the beta section, and couldn't see any feature for mac os x guests...
I don't understand... couldn't see any step in more than 7 months.

Create a topic and ask about it, if such a topic doesn't exist yet. See what the devs have to say about it.
