ERROR: VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on

I'm new here but I'm trying to get Mac OS 10 to run on my VirtualBox 3.2.4 running Ubuntu 10.4

I get the following error:
ERROR: VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.

LOG is attached

Thanks for the help,

beanwl

sorry that is true: you can recheck with http://ark.intel.com/VTList.aspx#41878 that Pentium T2390 doesn't support VT-x

AFAIK Applemac guest on non-Apple hardware is not supported anyway

Mac OS Guest is supported on all means on Mac hardware, so it doesn't matter if you have Linux as Host on your Mac, Windows through Bootcamp or use the native Mac OSX. However, in order to get it working, you do need VT-x. Without it, you're not going anywhere.

This error comes up despite having the ability enabled, but only for a Mac guest, not a windows guest. It would seem to be a bug related to setting up a Mac guest, of which I'm seeing many thus far.

Truly having the VT-x/AMD-V enabled is relying on a few things:

1. The CPU you're using actually supports hardware virtualization.
2. Hardware virtualization is enabled in your bios.
3. Lastly that it's enabled in your vbox configuration.

if you're missing the first 1 you're completely out of luck, the second one is dependent on your motherboard and bios revision, third will generally be set in vbox already.

If you're on an older Intel mac and getting that message then you'll need to get an EFI firmware update for it to enable VT-x here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2744

I find it hard to believe you have a problem that is just like the one that was brought up about 3 years ago, especially with no information at all from your side.
