How Much Hardware to Throw at Ventura?

Post by Wondario »

What's the bare minimum CPU cores and memory that I can throw at Ventura? All articles that talk about minimum requirements simply state what Macs are supported but that info is useless when creating VMs.

Modern OS's like to have 2 processors inside a VM.

RAM depends on what you have available on the host OS: the physical PC still needs RAM to run, as well as the VM. You should give the VM at least the minimum RAM needed by the OS you're installing, but be aware that if the host has low RAM or you're already running lots of other host apps that consume host RAM., you may not be able to give more than minimum. If your host has plenty of unused RAM normally, then more RAM in the VM will help the VM OS. Actual numbers will depend on what Ventura wants and what your host normally uses.

If you have an M1 or M2 Mac, you won't be able to run Ventura on Virtualbox. See the M1/M2 sticky in the Mac Hosts forum.

Ah I see, it's only capable of emulation.

Disappointing but what can you do?!

Thanks for the heads up. Only ended up wasting a single day on trying to get Ventura to work.
