I am attempting to install a Sierra guest on Catalina host. I have used the instructions from viewtopic.php?f=22&t=81443. It seems that everything is going okay, but I am not certain.
Having experience with this before, I was able to gauge the progress using the "Bytes Read" column in Activity Monitor. However, this was installing a Sierra Guest on a Sierra Host.
Going by this measure, the process VirtualBox VM has moved 0.1 MB ("stuck" at 31.8 MB?) since it started, and it has been about 12 hours. I don't remember where the process was at this point with the other installation, but it appears to have been moving along - by this measure - at a certain speed.
Is there any way to find out whether this is working?

Re: Sierra Guest Installation Appears Stalled on Catalina
I suspect it is stalled waiting for USB. Close the VM window then:
Install the VirtualBox Extension pack from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
In your VM settings, go to Ports -> USB and enable the USB controller with USB 3.0
Try starting your VM again.
