solaris 10 guest crash when copying from shared folders

Post by hassan »

Installed latest vbox and addons for vista, installed solaris 10 guest and created shared folder. When i copy any files from the vista pc to the solaris guest, the guest crashes and reboots.

I first had the issue on 4.1.6 but then upgraded to 4.1.8 with addons and i still get the issue, is anyone else getting this crash with shared folders?

Is the share a manual share or automatic share?

I had this issue with the auto-share some versions back but though they had this fixed. I use the manual mount now with no issue. I will try to see what happens with the auto-mount later today.

I will try one more thing, incase its permissions issue and then try manual share to see if it fixes the issue.

Update: just tried manual share and same issue, crash and reboot.

Update2: i managed to copy files that are 1 or 2k in size no problem, then tried 120k file and crashed.

Update3: installed solaris guest under mac osx, no problems with shared folders, this just confirms how much vista sucks.

Update4: Same vista pc with linux guest and everything works fine with shared folders
Thanks Again.

What do you mean "copy any files from vista pc to the solaris guest"? The shared folder lives on the host, guest additions are not involved when you copy a file to a host folder from the host. I don't understand what you're doing.

Could you please give the commands you are using and where you are using these commands? (guest & host)
