Hi folks,
I've tried running OpenSolaris under several versions of VB. The LiveCD works without a flaw, but when I install OpenSolaris onto a virtual disk, it shows the GRUB boot menu, but after that, it's completely dead. I've tried different settings with ACPI, IO APIC, PAE, AMD-V, etc., etc., but to no avail. Other OS work very well (Windows XP Pro 32-bit, Linux Slackware 32-bit, Linux SLAMD64 64-bit)
AMD Turion64X2, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon graphics, Windows XP x64.
Regards,
Peter

Re: OpenSolaris 2009.06 does not start
Hi!
Same to me, but i use Sol 10U7 in 64bit mode as guest.
Host system is Vista 64bit on HP 6735b notebook - AMD X2 QL-60 cpu, 4Gb ram, integrated ATI HD3200 video
Ubuntu 64 bit works well!

Re: OpenSolaris 2009.06 does not start
I had similar guest installation problems when I installed the vbox host software and immediately tried to install the guest without rebooting the host. After I rebooted the Ubuntu 9.10 host, the OpenSolaris 2009.06 guest installed. Now, when using either VBox 3.0.12 or 3.1.0 with guest additions installed, the OpenSolaris 2009.06 window manager periodically freezes for several seconds and then continues . Guest Solaris 10u8 does not have the periodic window manager freezes on this host.

Re: OpenSolaris 2009.06 does not start
I installed 2009.06 OpenSolaris for testing. I can run it for a couple hours at a time, but eventually the VM will lock up. I switched my package sources and did the upgrade to the latest via web and X11 is totally trashed after doing that. I'm very thankful for snapshots! Unfortunately it looks like Solaris and OpenSolaris are both unstable under VBox 3.1.0. 3.0.10 was solid, you might try that version if you haven't already?
