openSolaris guest hangs hosts (Windows XP) bridge adaptor

Post by javaboyuk »

Anyone want to suggest help arround this...

happens ALL the time.

HOST: Windows XP sp2 (patched to date 27 June 2009) 32 Bit
running : VB 2.2.4,

Guest : opensolaris 2009.6

Interface NATed
tried a number of different network emulations, and I get PackageManage will hang
the network, both for guest AND THE HOST!!

If I do "network connections" -> "bridge adaptor" repair
will recover for a while then die again.

Interesting guest can cause the HOST to mess its network up...

An thoughts?

What is the host (RAM) memory and how much have you assigned to the guest?

The opensolaris guest has 1024.

The Windows XP host has 4GB in total

In VB 3.0 Beta two, doesn't have this problem.... but the network seems MUCH slower
nslookups take ages etc. machine is nearly unuseable.

ok further detail, the NAT code is offically I believe hosed in 3.0.0 beta 2 and we
are hereing things from some the same for 3.0.0 GA release!!

So don't use NAT it's broken, I switched to bridged and worked fine.
(if thats what you can live with!)
