So, I did everything according to manual.

1. Installed SATA AHCI driver in native Windows XP
2. Created second hardware profile in native Windows
3. Ran mergeide in native Windows XP
4. Created a fake mbr file
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
install-mbr rawxp.mbr -f

5. Created an image
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename rawXP.vmdk -rawdisk /dev/sda -partitions 2 -mbr rawxp.mbr -relative

6. Ran virtualbox
7. Created a machine
8. Added an Image to sata controller
9. Enabled IO APIC

What i get is a blue screen

Hello,

in I) 2 I can read "If Bios and Firmware Revisions are not listed, set them both to the version of SMBIOS.", what shall do if I only have the Firmware Revision which is not listed?

Thanks,

Guillaume.

Howto: Windows 7 in both VM and native - DISCUSSION

Postby andreaskme » 1. Nov 2013, 20:06

Is there an update for Windows 7 ?

So is it possible to have a Windows 7 installation,
and choose each time

to either dual boot it natively, or
to boot it inside a virtualbox.

Thanks a million!
