Same for me, as mentioned in
Thread 96556.
We're using "DATEV Mittelstand Faktura mit Rechnungswesen" which is using MS SQL Server, too. Workaround for me: downgrading to 5.2.36 for now.

We needed to start work in our accounting department today, so I had to downgrade to 6.0.16 which seems to do the job for now.
I have a snapshot of the VM just before the installation makes the machine crash, but my time is limited, so I cannot invest much more resources into investigation.

As I already suspected, we need a way for a VirtualBox developer to reliably reproduce the crash. Can the DATEV software be downloaded and installed without purchasing it?

The cause of this issue was identified and a fix will be shipped with the next patch release of VirtualBox, see
Ticket 19171.

I see that a test build for the fix is available as well.
