[NotSupported] Bowl Bound College Football can't go full screen

Post by Jacket43 »

I am a new user on VM. Trying to run a Windows game on a Mac host. The game will download but will not show the entire screen either in full screen or scaled mode. Not sure what to do. Here is a screen shot.

Games are not the most cooperative of applications, they think that they have control over the whole computer. And I'm not quite sure what to make of the screenshot...

We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe or recreate the problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

Go to the VM Settings » Display » Screen. Enable 3D acceleration. Increase the VRAM to the max 256 MB.

Are we talking about this game? Bowl Bound College Football System Requirements?

Programs like these tend to push the physical hardware to their limit hence the strict requirements for the graphics card (GPU) specifications. Virtual machines will never be as powerful as the host, especially on the video side. They use after all a virtual graphics card, not your host's real graphics card. The virtual GPU itself is from around 1995-2000 in terms of capabilities. Applications that have high requirements on the GPU (drawing, 3D, games, video) are expected to not work as good as on the real hardware, if they work at all.

I'm glad in the same page, marking as [NotSupported]. I'm also changing the title of the thread from "Can't see full screen" to something more appropriate, and moving the thread to "Windows Guests" from "OSX Hosts".
