Have you tried a different firewall? I know Comodo is pretty good, but there are other programs that do the same (no, don't even think about ZoneAlarm, that sucks).

Well, I'm not willing to try another firewall because I am used to COMODO. It's great and runs well with my configuration, security, and settings.

I'm just wondering if this bug can be found and squashed, as I'm practically sure its a VirtualBox bug.

-Tried installing on VirtualBox few months back, crash dump, error, and COMODO shows but doesn't *work*

----->Switched to testing on MS Virtual PC as a result, and no problems with fresh disk install

-VirtualBox 2.0 released with support on VirtualPC's .vhd extension. Awesome, I thought, could use VirtualBox on an existing virtual disk
----->Tested, and VirtualBox still caused error with COMODO (went back on VirtualPC and again, no problems, no crash dump, and firewall works)

What I can conclude:
*Not an fresh Windows disk installation error if VirtualPC worked, then used VB2.02, and error caused
*Not an error with .vhd compatibility since VB native virtual disks also caused SAME error

**Perhaps something else related to VB and/ or/ with my nLite configuration (removals, addtions, tweaks, etc.) ;; VPC 2007 works fine with my nLite configuration, so VB problem?

Unfortunately, it seems none of the users here are able to analyze the crash dump. I certainly don't.

I don't know whether or note its a driver integration problem or something. Sasquatch, did you integrate drivers during the test with COMODO (perhaps you can integrate ALL drivers? to make it simple, use DriverMax from http://www.drivermax.com/ to backup the drivers to a folder)?

EDIT--
Heya, Sasquatch, would you like a copy of my LastSession.ini ? I can paste it here so you can at the very least test if its a problem with VirtualBox and my settings/ tweaks. (Course, you can't get the same integrations of programs, drivers, and others as I did, unless you would like some more indepth info on what I did?)

Your LastSettings.ini should be a good one. I will let it run on a clean XP SP3 Pro install.

The drivers I integrate are never those picked from a driver pack, but always just the driver I need. Reason for that is to keep Windows as small as possible. Integrating 200 MB of drivers just doesn't do that ;). Because after all, why would I need all the different Broadcom LAN drivers, Intel VGA, ATi, VIA etc if I don't have that hardware. Windows will always keep them stored somewhere ready to install them when needed.

Here we go (note: 4 log files, but will only put up 2). To use the lastsession, copy and paste it into notepad, save, and import ;) .

**This isn't quite current, but it'll serve just right for now, since it is in essence the same as what I've been trying to do (mostly, all that's ever changed is adding more add-ons or updates).**

This is the RVMi logfile (only good for knowing what went into my disk)

After, I integrated XPize 4.7 + XPize Darkside (in 2 different sessions, since 1 session itself won't/ doesn't integrate both) with nLite. Then I followed with integrating WMP11 via Booogy's WMP11 slipstreamer.

Finally, the major crux of the integration, my major nLite lastsession:

Do you think that I need all those addons and runonce stuff to trigger your error? If so, then either there is an error, something that VB doesn't like (or the hardware emulation actually). Each virtualisation program emulates different hardware, so that could very well be the trigger for the error. Especially the network interface. I don't know what type MS VPC emulates or if it passes the physical interface to the VM directly.

Well, I actually don't think it is the add-ons that are causing the problems.

Let's try this one step after another:
**Use the last session to get the tweaks and removals first.
**Integrate drivers some of your own driver to amend whatever drivers were removed (like display or network)

If the error pops up, we know its either some tweak I made or some driver that was integrated. Then we continue trying the last seesion without drivers this time and check it out :) .

Thanks, Sasquatch. This means a lot for me :) !!

Just in case this was a problem on COMODO's part as well, I made a bug report thread: http://forums.comodo.com/bug_reports-b106.0/

Seems at least some people experience similar problems :) !!

As it turns out, Comodo Internet Security also has this problem. Me and a few others have posted our crash dumps for the developers to see.

Any developments, Sasquatch?

Hey, its a bug in VirtualBox, or at least, the program doesn't have full flexibility.

Might we see a new version that fixes this?
I did notice a new message in CIS RC2, which I might just have omitted in earlier CIS versions, because from short testing it seems that the message isn't shown each time CIS crashes on VirtualBox. Sometimes it displays 'All systems are active and running' even though the crash occurred a moment ago. Anyway, the message says that there are some virtual environment restrictions which clearly suggest that there is a problem with virtualization software.

No development on my part. I've been too busy with school to even try an nLite run. In fact, I even switched my PC to Linux, so unless nLite runs inside VB, I can't test it (unless I quickly boot to that dirty OS :P).

Alright, this is a bug that COMODO is unable to fix on their part.

**Had some people test and follow the new version developments of COMODO Internet Security 3.5, and bug still exists.**

I believe its a flaw with VirtualBox itself. Anyone know how I can submit a bug report for the tracker?

EDIT--
Made a new account and will submit a bug report.

Bug ticket opened.

Ticket #2496: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2496

Attached crash dumps generated from various versions of the software within VirtualBox.

This time, someone even provided me with a Vista SP1 dump, so that should be helpful ;) !!

EDIT---
Ahh, Sasquatch, perhaps you don't need to test COMODO with all the things I did.

Try to see if you can reproduce the problem by just installing COMODO Firewall or Internet Security and rebooting. That was how most people got the crash.

Remember to report back what you find :) !!
