[Windows 10] Slow and choppy animations and cursor movement

Post by marovargovcik »

Hi, I am trying to run Windows 10 Pro as virtual machine and I am having poor performance regarding animations. It's not as smooth as my host Windows 10 Pro and I was just wondering if there is anything that can be done. My host has 144Hz refresh rate and everything feels so smooth compared to my experience in guest OS. Reason why I am trying to run another Windows on top of my host Windows is that I need to do some work related stuff and I don't feel like installing all necessary tools on my personal laptop. I have video that show this comparison but I can't post URLs due to not being a member for more than 1 day and not having at least 1 post (understandable). Can send video link in direct message.

HOST:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
Version: 1903
Build: 18362.356

HOST SPECS:
i5 9300H (4C/8T), 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIE SSD, RTX2060 + UHD 630

GUEST:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
Version: 1903
Build: 18362.356

GUEST SPECS:
Guest Additions installed
2 assigned processors
4096 MB of RAM
256 MB of Video Memory
VboxSVGA Graphics Controller
Enabled both 2D and 3D acceleration

After running guest VM my host still has enough memory (at least 8GB of RAM) available.

For more information, please see attached log (in RAR due to size). I am sorry if I missed any information. Was following guide here on forum called "Minimum information needed for assistance".

I experienced similar problem on similar setup when I tried switching graphic controller from VBoxVGA to VBoxSVGA (because of warning that 3D acceleration will not be supported with VBoxVGA from version 6.1 on). During boot Windows stopped loading and required mouse click to go on, and refreshing during resize operation was especially painful. When I went back to VBoxVGA, everything worked smoothly again.
