Windows 7 guest fails with "Guru Mediation" pop-up after windows updates

Post by dhkorman »

Hi,
My Win 7 (32 bit) Guest is failing with a "Guru Mediation" popup when it displays "Preparing to configure Windows" when restarting after installing the latest Windows Updates.

Host system is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (32 bit) running on Intel Core2Duo E6500 with 4Gb RAM.
Log and screenshot files attached.

Any help would be most welcome

Thanks.

The error you are getting is a triple fault, which IME is usually associated with a corrupted drive. Where did this Win7 image come from?

It was installed fresh from a retail CD.

The guest has been running perfectly well for a long time (a few years), and if I revert to my previous snapshot, before the updates, it still runs perfectly well. If I then re-apply the updates, exactly the same thing happens.

Actually, my problem sounds very much like this one:

I will investigate.....
