Windows 10 and 7 images always returning an 0x80070570 error code during installation.

Post by Chkayba3 »

I'm using VB 5.2.16 on Arch Linux. I've tried to install Windows 10 (with 3 different ISO images), and Windows 7. all of theme return this error message during the installation.

Code: Select all

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570.
Are there some idea how can I troubleshoot the problem ?

Please provide a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

I see nothing wrong with the VM configuration, so I suspect the ISO. Where did it come from?

Certainly the error message reported is a Windows error, not a VirtualBox error. Also (searching around) the error seems to be related to corrupted removable media, but Microsoft are in a better position to tell you exactly what it means. Doing an MD5 checksum comparison might also be a good move, and if all of these ISO were transported on the same media then I'd treat that media with suspicion.

I've tried more than four different Windows images from different sources and still the same error. I've also done MD5 checksum comparison.

Well, perhaps you can suggest a reason why no one else sees this problem, but you get it every time. It suggests there is a common factor close to you.
