Experiencing odd behavior only in my Windows 10 Guest.
When I click the start menu, no keyboard output goes to the VM.
I can still click on applications with the mouse.
I've also seen this in the VPN creation screen.
I have a Windows 7 VM and have not had this happen.
I have the latest version of VirtualBox and Extensions.
I've also tried switching to full screen mode and enabling/disabling Auto Capture Keyboard.
Host is Elementary OS 0.4.1 (aka Ubuntu 16.10).

Which start menu are you referring to? The one in the guest? There is nothing a guest OS can do to stop keypresses arriving, so something else must be happening, perhaps a timing problem.

Re: Windows 10 Guest no keyboard on Start Menu
Well think about what is happening when the guest start menu is displayed: i.e. basically nothing. The start menu may have significance inside the guest, but as far as VirtualBox is concerned it's just an undetectable change in the graphical content of the virtual display.
Hence, any behaviour change you see must be determined by the guest. The fact that it only happens in certain guest OS's is also evidence of this.
Which keys are you pressing, and what makes you think they aren't getting through?

I'm clicking the start menu and then I start typing which should perform a search for applications like command or Word.

Re: Windows 10 Guest no keyboard on Start Menu
Well, personally I would rule out the keyboard idea and try to think laterally: something isn't working, is it the keyboard or is it something else? For example is the Windows guest trying to do an online search and is running into network problems? Is it trying to launch some kind of search tool and running into memory problems? And so on.
If you want to continue this conversation then please post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click and "Show Log" in the GUI, save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip, and attach the zip here.
