Host-Only Question

Post by saberman »

VB: 5.2.8 r121009
Guest: Windows 10 Pro x64
Host: Windows 10 Pro x64 running on a new Surface Pro I7

The guest has only two network adapters defined:
0. NAT
1. Host-Only Ethernet Adapter

If I open explorer in the guest and expand network the host does not show up. If I type \\<host name>\ into the address bar of explorer and press enter the host shows up under network and the host shares are visible. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

I cannot reach the guest from the host. It does not show up under network and if I type \\<guest name>\ into the address bar of explorer and press enter I get Windows cannot access \\<guest name>\

I also tried the ip address from running ipconfig in the guest: 168.192.56.101 without any luck. Is there anyway to see the guest's shares from the host?
