Guest machine sees my shared folder, host doesn't

I've got a WinXP virtual guest and a Win10 physical host on the same PC; the network ran as expected until today, when my shared folder (permanently mounted) gave me a "path not found" error as seen in the attached screen shot. The guest VM can still see and use my shared folder, however: why would this happen and how can I fix it? (The host gets daily virus/malware scans, so I'm sure it's clean. I'm running VBox 5.2.0 on 64-bit Windows 10, if this helps.)

Has the host recently updated to version 1709? XP uses the old SMB/Netbios sharing method. The latest version of Windows 10 disables SMB 1.0 by default (because of its weak security). You will not be able to access a share on XP without SMB 1.0 on the host.

Thank you! How would I re-enable SMB on rhe host's side? (A more tech-savvy friend set up the original network for me; this is my first time fixing a network by myself.)

From Control Panel select Programs & Features, then Turn Windows features on or off. Scroll down to SMB1.0 ,click the +sign to expand the view and check the two boxes client and server.

Oddly enough, when I scrolled through the list of features... both were already turned on. (By the way -- would the type of network connection ever cause problems when the guest and host are on one physical machine? My friend set the connection to Host-Only Ethernet Adapter with the “cable connection” box marked. Should I change any of that?)

We're going to need to see a VM log from a complete VM run:

• Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe error / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
• With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
• Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

Got rid of my saved state, rebooted, tried opening the shared folder from the guest side (no problem there) and the host side ("path not found" again). Here's the log file.
