[Solved] Change the Driveletter of a shared folder in the Guest-System

Post by Ingolf_009 »

Do you know, if there is any possibility to change the drive letter of a shared folder in the guest System (Use Windows 10)? It is simply assigned any letter that I can not change, if i make a shared folder?
Help would be nice.

Yes you can, but this has nothing to do with VirtualBox. A drive letter is just a label assigned to a resource by the guest OS. Use guest tools to change labels.

Thanks a lot!!

After creating the shared folders in Virtualbox, I disconnected the network drives under Windows and recombined them with a new drive letter assignment

This it was !!!

Or else, do not use "automatic mounting" from VirtualBox, use the mount feature of Windows Explorer. Browse for the share, give it whatever letter you want and make it permanent.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
