Windows XP Intel PRO

Post by tbk »

Hello, so I installed XP to a virtual machine for testing and its installs and runs fine...till I tried enabling networking in bridge mode Intel PRO/1000 T Server(82543GC). It still runs but locks up ever 20 sec or so. This happens only when the guest is started with the "Cable Connected" unchecked. After the guest starts with these settings the network adapter shows a "Limited or no Connectivity" instead of "cable unplugged".

I confess that I'm puzzled. If the network cable is disconnected then of course networking will not work. If you create a VM with a single core (hard to tell if that's what you did since you didn't provide a log) then the OS will lag every time it re-checks for a network connection.

So the puzzling part is, why are you experimenting with unplugging the network cable and then asking about the effects? Why not leave the cable plugged in? What are you trying to do?
