Wont get repair even after an uninstal-reinstall

Post by JohnLittle »

Hi, i´ve been searching all day by now and can´t get an answer, hope somebody can help me:

I have Vbox: VirtualBox-5.1.28-117968-Win

Then i Installed Kali linux: kali-linux-2017.2-amd64
after all the apt-get update/upgrade/distupgrade etc
i installed: VBoxGuestAdditions.iso

IT CRASHED, first is was running all smooth , next
time i tried to load Vbox kali linux was like: Can´t access
but Back Box and ubuntu were all right.

exept for kali linux. i tried to delete kali but it was NOT
possible by any means, so i had to completely
uninstall VBox using REVO Uninstaller and Re-install Vbox
again, and i really was surprised when noted that
it was all exactly the SAME that befor i made the reinstall.
so i don´t now what to do now.

if i can´t repair tue Vbox after uninstall it and
reinstall it back again what can i do then???

hope somebody can help me on this, thank you very much in advance.

When you say "it crashed", who crashed? The host, VirtualBox, the guest?

Also, bear in mind that a lot of distros these days ship their own Guest Additions (GAs). If Kali has that you need to remove/purge them and then install the ones that come bundled with VirtualBox.

And I didn't particularly liked the reference to VBoxGuestAdditions.iso. Did you download the GAs separately? If you did, you shouldn't, they come bundled with VirtualBox. See ch 4. Guest Additions.
