[Solved] windows 10 file system error 1073741819

This week I installed virtualbox-5.1_5.1.28-117968-Ubuntu-xenial_amd64 on my Linux Mint 18.1 host. It took a couple of times falling back to a snapshot before I realized that the Windows 10 guest error "file system error 1073741819" was cropping up only after I installed the new vboxguestadditions. I solved the problem by getting the guestadditions from the 5.1.26 version from http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.1.26

Just in case anyone else noticed the problem and is looking here for a solution.

Hello. Thanks for your post. I had the same issue with VirtualBox 5.1.28 on Mac, running Win10 as guest. I fixed by installing 5.1.26 guest additions from here: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.1.26/

Some people reported that it might be related to 3D acceleration: http://borncity.com/win/2017/09/18/virt ... 10-guests/

This issue is the same as the one in ticket #17082: No more elevated rights after install of Guest Additions 5.1.28 on Windows. If you follow the ticket, you'll see that the problem has been fixed with Guest Additions 5.1.29. So, please download the latest Guest Additions from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds and you do not have to downgrade to 5.1.26. You can keep moving forward...

Since a solution exists, I'll mark this as [Solved].
