USB device is busy with a previous request

Hi,

I tried to use USB device in my guest but I always have an error message for: USB device is busy with a previous request (0x80070057).

- My host = Windows 7 SP1 64-bit in french
- My guest = Windows 7 SP1 64-bit in french
- PC = Toshiba Tecra A11 PTSE0C-00P00N
- Virtual Box 5.1.26 with the Expansion Pack and I installed the VirtualBox Guest Addition. I selected USB 2.0 (EHCI) in the configuration of Virtual Box and I add a filter with just name, vendor ID and Product ID of my stick. I use 2.0 because Tecra A11 doesn't support 3.0.
- I installed the Intel Chipset SW Installation Utility for Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64) for Toshiba support but I have the same problem.
- The USB stick is captured but I don't see it in the VM. When I select the stick in the devices list, I have the error message. I tried an other USB device and I have the same problem.

I don't know what I can try to solve the problem... Somebody can help me?
Thanks

Wow thanks a lot. I didn't see the posts in #7 Troubleshooting. Now it's work perfectly.

Thanks again scottgus1. :-)

Which specific step helped you resolve your problem? It would be great if you could share that info.

I did this procedure:

2. first of all, edit your registry

- Open the Windows registry, by clicking on Start > Run and typing regedit
- Navigate to the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}
- In the right hand panel, if the the UpperFilters entry exists, then delete it

3. Install virtualbox USB driver manually.

- Goto folder C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\USB\filter
- Click right mouse button on file named VboxUSBMon.inf
- Check Install(I) (maybe.. My window is korean so it dose not exact. )

4. Rebooting

5. Unplug your USB memory (or joystick..)

6. Open VirtualBox and Close it rightly.
( it will remove your USB device from VM's seized list. )

7. Plug your USB memory.

8. Open VirtualBox and Run Virtual Machine.

9. Click right mouse button on USB icon placed in status bar which is below VM window.

10. Check USB device what you want to plug in.
