I've tried both actually and neither have been successful. I've reset it back to relying on DHCP (see below) and its still getting an APIPA address. Ive also pasted the VBoxManage showvminfo
A couple things I've noticed while testing further...
-Bridged seems to work when the host is wired in via ethernet (doubt it makes a difference, but I connect it through a USB adapter... no ethernet port on this laptop)
-With Host only I can get it to take DHCP from the VBox Host Adapter
I did read some info about bridged networking to wifi adapters being a bit quirky but most of that was from multiple years back and prior versions. I'm not sure if that's still an issue, there doesn't seem to be as much recent discussion about that type of issue.
