In order to better understand the problem you need to submit some more information. Please read the following: Minimum information needed for assistance.

- What's your host version? Full and complete details please. "OSX" isn't enough, "OSX 10.9.5 build 13f1911" is much better.
- What's your guest version? Full and complete details please. "Win10" isn't enough, "Win10 1607, build 14393.969" is much better.
- What's your VirtualBox version? Full and complete details please. "The latest" is not enough, "VirtualBox 5.1.18 r140002" is much better.

- Follow a "start the VM from cold-boot"/"observe error"/"shutdown the VM" cycle.
- With the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
- Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response (see the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form).
Can you ping your gateway?
Can you ping 8.8.8.8?
Can you ping google.com?

Re: Connecting to the internet
There is a good chance that you can connect to the Internet but your browser is too old to connect to any web sites. What Internet browser are you using? The built-in browser is probably Internet Explorer 6.

Re: Connecting to the internet
Nope, that would be the default for WinXP. For Win98 that would be IE5.BillG wrote:The built-in browser is probably Internet Explorer 6.

On my real WinXP, I can connect to websites in IE7.
