USB Error trying to start XP guest on Fedora Core 5

Post by ddesmarais »

Hey all.

I am currently trying to get a windows XP guest runing in Vbox 1.4.0 on a Fedora Core 5 host.

When the xp guest first booted it froze on mup.sys. Checking the internet I discovered this was related to my USB devices so I turned on Vbox's usb controller in the xp guest settings.

Now I get the following error when I start the guest:

===============================================
---------------------
Virtual Box error.
Failed to attach the USB device LOgitech USB Reciever [1600] to the virtual machine windows xp.
---------------------
Not permitted to open the USB device, check usbfs options.
===================================================

I'm not sure how to correct the settings of my USB devices under FC5 . . . can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks
