Shared folder causes BSOD in Vista

Post by craigsn »

I have shared an external hard drive from my Ubuntu amd64 host, to my Guest OS, Windows Vista. I used the VBoxManage sharedfolder command and ubuntu accepts it, when I go to the guest os, Vista, I can connect to the share using the net use command. The drive shows up, correctly. I can click on it and bring up the contents of the directory. However, a few moments later, the BSOD shows up and reboots my guest os.

Any suggestions or things to try?

Thanks
Craig

I have the same problem. Temp solution for me is the samba server on linux host, that runs perfectly.

Sorry to be dense here Stefan, but what do you mean the temp solution is samba? I understand I need to install samba, but how does that work with virtualbox? What do I need to do there?

You can setup a samba share on host and in guest connect a nwtwork drive.
